Louis Grech, Course Tutor

Like all our tutors, Louis is a well-rounded and approachable professor, and he has been teaching English as a Foreign Language for over forty years. CELTA qualified himself, Louis has been a CELTA trainer since 1994! Over the course of his extensive career, he has taught all levels and gone through all the stages of teaching and teacher training.

Louis qualified with an MA in TESOL following his initial university qualification (BA Hons in English). In addition to his vast experience as a CELTA trainer, Louis was also a Director of Studies for over 30 years. Louis is a regular presenter in ELT conferences, seminars and workshops. For those with an interest in teaching children, it is useful to know that Louis is also a qualified Trainer Trainer and moderator for CELT Primary and Secondary age courses.

Jean Sciberras, Course Tutor

Jean has a wealth of knowledge drawn from over 35 years of English teaching experience. She originally qualified with a BA (Hons) in English and followed this with CELTA and Delta qualifications, as well as an English Language Teaching Management Certificate through an English university.

Jean has taught all levels and has gone through all the stages of teaching (general and business). She has excelled in roles as Director of Studies, Assistant Director of Studies and exams coordinator.

Jean has been a CELTA trainer since 2009 and has also worked as a Cambridge Speaking examiner in Madrid. On top of all of this, she is also a regular presenter in ELT conferences, seminars and workshops.

Cansu graduated with an MA in English Studies (TEFL and Linguistics) following her BA (Hons) in English Language and Literature.

She is both CELTA and Delta qualified and brings over 15 years of experience working in the English as a Foreign Language field at tertiary level, as an English language teacher, exam writer, materials designer and CELTA trainer. In addition to this, she has also worked as an organiser and speaker at various international English Language Teaching conferences, seminars, and workshops.

Cansu has been working as a CELTA trainer for a number of years, specialising in Online Tutoring, so is the perfect person to help every step of the way with your online course!

About the Support Team

In order to be able to deliver the best customer service experience for you when you choose to take the CELTA in Florence, we have two specialised support teams. One deals with all your CELTA-related questions and your application. The other is the team on the ground, at the school in Florence, able to assist you with your accommodation and all the other things you may need while in the city.

Dealing with your application and questions about the CELTA:

When you apply or enquire about our CELTA courses in Florence you will be in communication with our team of CELTA experts and advisors in Cambridge, UK.

The team in Cambridge has 20 years of experience dealing with the CELTA and Delta programmes. They will be able to answer any questions you may have about the courses, such as your suitability for the course, the content of the programme, the application process, etc. Moreover, they will assist you with your application and make sure that the application documents are submitted correctly and in a timely manner.

The CELTA application process can be a lengthy one. Firstly, we will make sure that the CELTA is the right programme for you by getting to know more about you and your future plans; we will then assist you with your application process and will advise you accordingly to help you to succeed, firstly with your application and later on with the CELTA course.

We will be with you all the way during your ‘CELTA journey’, from your first question about the CELTA, till the moment you gain the CELTA Certificate and get into the job market with it!

Dealing with the preparation for your stay and assisting you during your time in Florence:

The team in Florence, ‘on the ground’, will be responsible for the organisation of your stay in the city if you are doing a face-to-face course. They will try to make your trip to Italy and/or stay in Florence as easy as possible. For us it is very important that you feel safe and relaxed while in Florence, so we will do our best to meet your expectations and assist you with any difficulties you might encounter while taking the CELTA in Florence.

We just want you to enjoy your time with us!

During your CELTA course with us in Florence, we will take care of everything. In addition to accommodation services, we can assist you with many other aspects, from Italian language courses offered at our centre to cultural activities (e.g. sightseeing tours, booking tickets for galleries and museums, etc.) or even more practical things such as getting a SIM card, a good hairdresser, a conveniently located gym, or an English-speaking doctor.
